We've updated our New Zealand Terms of Trade. This is the main contract that defines your relationship with us. Major updates include clarifying the warranties that we provide, changes to cover the new Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015 legislation, detailing how the expiry dates work for prepaid time and clarifying how we deal with abandoned projects and early terminations along with various other improvements throughout suggested by our solicitors.

From Monday, 20 June 2016, the hourly rate for Website Administration will increase to $127/hr for all new sales. Clients who have existing time left purchased at the old rate will remain on the $97/hr rate until the conclusion of that project. Upon completion of a project, any new time purchased will be at the new rate.

Please note that we've made a change to Dedicated Super Support (DSS) cost for additional hours. Additional hours are now charged at $157 per hour. The monthly retainer, which entitles you to three hours per month, remains the same at $297 per month.

On April 8, Windows XP reaches the end of it's supported life. After this, Microsoft will not release security fixes, and given XP's poor security record this will likely mean that within a short time it will be vulnerable to a large number of malware attacks and security issues. At the same time, Microsoft will cease to support Office 2003, which will lead to similar issues.
We eliminated tech support for Internet Explorer 8, the browser on most XP systems, quite some time ago, however this will lead to a further reduction in our level of support, as IE8 machines will progressively become more and more often exploited. At some point it will reach a stage where we need to block IE8 to preserve people's website security. We encourage anyone still on XP to upgrade as soon as possible.
Similarly, the dropping of Office 2003 support means we will no longer be officially supporting file exports to Excel 2003; although in practice, we will continue to support the file format until a majority of other applications are upgraded to no longer use it, we can't fix bugs specifically in Office 2003. In the case of Office, free solutions such as Google Apps, Openoffice, or the latest version of Microsoft Office 2013 are the recommended upgrade options.

We've just upgraded the underlying technology of the rich text editor and several other libraries we use, to make them work properly with Internet Explorer 11
. This change in IE turned out to be large and broke a lot of the third-party tools we use. This fixes a lot of bugs people were having on IE11, especially working with tables and inserting links.
With the release of IE11, IE9 is sufficiently obsolete that we cannot support it anymore (our policy is to support the two most recent versions of IE). So IE9 users should upgrade (windows update should have upgraded you already), or switch to another browser such as Chrome.

When you accidently delete a component in View Website
mode, you'll now be able to restore it. Click on the blue Add Component
button at the top of the page, and there is a new section deleted components
. From now on, this shows all the components that you've deleted, similar to what the Item Trash and Content Trash
does for pages and items

We've added two new sections to the Visitors reports - you can find them by going to the Reports
tab, clicking the visitors
tab, and the clicking Full Report
under the section What did they do when they visited the site?
These reports show the broken links that people have visited - useful for finding links from other sites to pages you've deleted, and the internal searches done on your site.

Sooner or later - everyone accidentally deletes something important. To rescue you from that unpleasant situation, we've added a new Trash
feature to the Items
tabs of the website manager. When you delete a page it is no longer permanently lost - although it will disappear from your website, you can find it under the Trash and restore it.

Now when you create items, you can now use any character in an SKU (with a few obscure exceptions, like new lines). This solves problems for people trying to match their SKU codes between multiple different systems, who used characters (such as spaces) that the Zeald system didn't like.

While your site is still being loaded and hasn't been launched on the internet, the first page when you see is the Launch Checklist
Once you went live, it was replaced with the Website Dashboard, showing graphs of your metrics. We've replaced this now with a block at the top of the Dashboard, that will disappear when you launch your site.

We've redesigned and restructured our online help
. The new structure tries to make it easier to find the things you'll need to know while loading your site, separating them from info about running your site (eg processing orders). We're still working on improvements to a lot of the content. We also recorded a new Getting Started Video
which serves as an orientation to show the major functions of the system, and where to find them.

Based on feedback that people were struggling in the new design to figure out where to find the link to access the frontend of their websites, we've made some tweaks to the wording of that link. Rather than two links saying "LIVEEDIT" and "MANAGER" it now just says "view website". When you click it you'll see options to "hide editing tools", "show editing tools" and "Website manage" (which takes you back).

As promised in our last status update two weeks ago, we've finally removed the option for people to keep using the old image manager - if you were using that option (which was hidden away under Experimental Features in the Preferences tab) you'll be automatically upgraded to the new image manager. Since it went live many months ago, its received a lot of further polishing and refinement, and so hopefully any objection to the new one that kept you on the old one has long been fixed.

Since "Brevity is the soul of wit", and some people have thousands of images in their folders, people have requested the ability for the new image manager popup to have an option to the "summary list" mode of the old image manager. We've obliged, select View as summary
in the dropdown at the top of the image selector popup. This mode shows your images as (tiny) thumbnails, but manages to fit a lot more on the screen before you have to resize the window (50 per page, rather than 20 using the default thumbnails list).
We're doing this in preparation to remove the old image manager entirely, forcing all those still hanging onto the old one to upgrade - so if you've got any other issues holding you back from using the new one, now's a good time to let us know.

We've added a very handy new feature - the Previous Versions
link which will appear on product and content editors (and a few other places as well) lets you restore old versions of your content - especially handy if you make a mistake while editing, you can now revert it back. Read more

We've added another icon in liveedit, the plus icon, allowing you to copy components. We've also tweaked the "pencil" icon to a new mono vector icon that's a bit more "pencilly"

The login screen has always been rather boring and grey. We've decided to put regularly changing background images on it - the first one commemorates ANZAC day (why not buy a poppy or donate to the RSA
). After that we'd like to post profiles of zeald clients, submit a nice photo
and we'll give you a link from the login screen.

The new image manager, which replaces the popup you use to insert images in the rich text editor, the item editor, and eventually every other place as well, is finally going live. Our whole team is very proud of it, and hope you like it! But being cautious by nature, we're releasing it to batches of sites, a few hundred at a time over the next week to minimise any unexpected problems (eg overloading our servers, or our support lines if we made a mistake!). If you aren't among the lucky few to get it automatically, you can enable it for yourself - read more to see how.

, you can now turn off the ability the section at the top of the checkout page that lets customers sign in or create an account. There is also now an option to add a third option "No, I don't want to create an account". These features were suggested on our feature suggestion forum

We've just released a tweak to the status updates shown on the website dashboard - in the past we had a feed of the What's New?
and System Status
blogs in seperate sections. The new system shows you what's changed since you last logged in. In a lot of cases the updates are brief (after all, we are busy building new features not writing status posts!), but if there's anything you'd like more info about, contact our support team for more info.
