Goals

With the new goals feature it’s easy to create, measure and implement goals that will help you get outstanding results.  Goals are a metric for measuring the success of a website and can be major or minor. The goal system is integrated into the website backend taking full advantage of the powerful Zeald software.

Your Zeald site comes with the two most important major goals Enquires & Orders already loaded. These should be your first priority, but you should create and run as many goals as you wish.

How to create custom goals

  1. You can setup new goals by going to the Preferences tab in the backend and clicking on the ‘Goals’ tab. From here you will be able to view all the goals currently running on your website, including the major Enquiries and Orders goals. As well as the goal's name you can see what type of goal it is and any additional data such as what page it is recording
  2. You can edit an existing goal by clicking on the goals name written in blue. From here you can change the name and type of the goal
  3. Setup your custom goals by clicking ‘Add New’ in the bottom right hand cornersetupgoal.jpg
  4. Give your goal a descriptive name e.g. “Win a duck competition page loads”
  5. Choose which type of goal you would like to setup
  6. Specify the relevant page URL, or SKUs of specific items or Enquiry subject.  

    NOTE:  This will only work for internal links.  
  7. Click Save
Once a new goal has been created it will instantly start recording your data, so make sure you setup your goals early so that your website is recording all the data you need.
 

Types of goals

  1. A specific page was loaded – use this to measure how many times a page gets loaded. You could use this if your goal is to get users to go to a certain page e.g. to signup for email marketing or complete a competition signup form
  2. Enquiry of specific items – use this to measure how many times enquiries are made about a certain item
  3. Order of specific item – use this to track how many times a specific item gets ordered
  4. Orders – measure total orders made
  5. Enquiries – measure total enquiries made

Goal reports

Once you've setup your goals this page is where you go to track your progress and drill in to get more information that will help you run your website. Like all the Report pages you can select a date range and update the page in the top right hand corner.
 

Goal Summary

This graph tracks all of your completed goals over time. You can select an area of the graph to see a more detailed view and you can smooth the graph out to clearly see the patterns. Below the graph you can see the total number of goals you have completed.
  • Number of completed goals for each goal - This graph shows you how many of each type of goal you have completed
  • Conversion rate for each goal - This graphs the conversion rate for each goal and lets you compare how your various goals performed

Individual Goals

Because some goals will have a large Conversion rate e.g. page loads on your contact us page while others will be much smaller e.g. conversion rate of rubber ducks you can see Completed Goals and Conversion Rate for each type of goal you have setup.
 

Goals to get you started...

You are the only one that can tell which kind of goals are right for your business. This is why there are so many options for creating your own goals. Here are a few goals that you can setup right away that we think will be useful to a lot of businesses.
 

Contact us page load

If one of the objectives of your website is to generate leads or enquiries then chances are you have one or more forms on your site that your customers are asked to fill out. We find that while these forms are useful they don't offer a true indication of how well your site is functioning as a lead generation tool. Often people can't be bothered filling out long forms, or they don't provide enough information and you can't reach a potential customer - subsequently your website records low enquiry numbers.

What your website doesn't record is the number of people who click straight onto the "Contact Us' page and give you a call or an email directly. Previously you had no way to know how many people were contacting you after seeing your website. By setting up a 'specific page was loaded' goal you can get a great idea how many people are going to your contact us page. If they visit this page chances are they're looking for your phone or email, so the number of visitors will give you a great idea how well your site is generating leads.
 

Email marketing signup

Another idea is to track how many email newsletter sign-ups you are getting. If you have a "Thank you for signing up" page that your user is redirected to after submitting a form then it's just a matter of setting up a "specific page was loaded" goal. For the URL select area: email_opt_in_thankyou

Now you can easily see how many people are signing up for your newsletter.
