Creating links

Using the Rich Text Editor you can:


Firstly

  1. Type in the text that you want to make into a link. eg Click here to read more or Click here to view the product
  2. Or insert the image that you wish to make into a link
  3. Highlight the text or select the image (select image by left clicking once - nothing will appear to happen)
  4. Click on the Insert/Edit Link icon link_icons_12.png to open the Link Manager


To Create a Link to a Page on your Own Website

  1. Select the link type as URL
  2. Then use the Page Selector (in the lower part of the window) – find the content page / product page and click on it to select it. Select the Content option to link to content and the Product option to link to an item category page or an item page
  3. The selected page will be highlighted blue and the address for the page is inserted into the URL field. The Protocol will update automatically
  4. Click OK
  5. Save the page you are on in order to test it


To Create a Link to an External Website

 
  1. Type the text you wish to link eg "Click here to go to our facebook page"  
  2. Highlight the text with your cursor to select it or if you are wanting to link an image select the image by left clicking once - nothing will appear to happen when you left click on the image and this is correct.
  3. Click the link icon link_icons_12.png
  4. Select the link type as URL
  5. Then type or paste the website address into the URL text box eg: www.facebook.com/mypage
  6. This next step is very important as it allows people to browse around the external site and then easily get back to your website.....click on the Target tab  at the top of the link popup window
  7. From the Target dropdown box, select the target New Window (_blank) to ensure that the page opens into a new window
  8. The Target Frame Name will automatically be filled in
  9. Click OK
  10. Save the page you are on in order to test it
     


To Create an Email Link

  1. Select the link type as Email
  2. Then type in the email address
  3. You may also type in a Message Subject, e.g. "Website Enquiry"
  4. It is not normally necessary to type in suggested text for the Message Body
  5. Click OK
  6. Save the page you are on in order to test it
