The following is an explanation of the rich text editor icons / tools
Text formatting: This dropdown box enables you to apply pre-set headings to selected text
Bold: Applies bold formatting to selected text e.g

Italicise: Applies italic formatting to selected text e.g Italics
Underline: Applies underline formatting to selected text e.g

Strikethrough: Applies strikethrough formatting to selected text e.g

Subscript: Applies subscript formatting to seleted text, e.g. subscript formatting

Superscript: Applies superscript formatting to selected text, e.g. superscript formatting

Copy: Copies highlighted text and / or selected images to the clipboard
Please note: The RTE copy tool does
not function in the same manner as the copy tool in word; in the rich text editor it is only possible to copy one section of content to the clipboard at a time
Cut: Cuts highlighted text and / or images and stores them on the clipboard

Paste: Pastes the current clipboard content to wherever your cursor is currently located
Undo: Undoes the previous action
Re-do: Re-does the previous action
Justification: Applies justification to selected text. From left icon to right;

left justification: smooth left edge, ragged right edge

centre justification: ragged right and left edges

right justification: smooth right edge, ragged left edge

fully justifed: smooth left and right edges
Remove format: Enables you to apply your default format to the selected text
Numbered bullets: Applies numbered bullets to selected text
Bullets: Applies unnumbered bullets to selected text
Decrease Indent: Reduces the indent on a block of text. In a list "goes up one level"
Increase Indent: Reduces the indent on a block of text. In a list "goes up down level"
Insert file: Enables the insertion of an image into the page / modification of an existing image as well as the uploading of document and other files (e.g PDFs, images etc.) and the setting of links to them, enables access to the inbuilt image editor

Flash and Quicktime dialog: enables the embedding of Flash/Shockwave games and videos as well as Apple Quicktime .mov files
Horizontal rule: Inserts a horizontal line wherever the cursor is currently located
Insert web link: Enables the creation or modification of hyperlinks to internal / external pages

Anchor: Enables the linking of points within a web page

Toggle grid: Turns off table borders
Insert special character: Enables the insertion of special characters, e.g. "ø" or "¶"
Universal Keyboard: Enables you to use different keyboards and letters
Templates: Gives you a choice of different templates to choose from for the editor
Embed Raw HTML code: Enables you to embed a source code into your homepage
Important: This is only recommended for advanced users and you do it at your own risk
Toggle HTML Source: Will swap the rich text editor between 'normal' and 'code' views. The code view enables the viewing and direct editing of programming code
Keyboard shortcuts
The Rich Text Editor works in a similar way to a word processor. You can use keyboard shortcuts to correct mistakes, apply formatting changes and manipulate text
Ctrl + Z = undo
Ctrl + Y = re-do
Ctrl + X = cut
Ctrl + C = copy
Ctrl + V = paste
Ctrl + B = bold
Ctrl + I = italicise
Ctrl + U = underline
Ctrl + A = select all content
Ctrl + F = find
